It’s a tradition the natives know about the goats are marvelous but new residents might think it a bit strange seeing a goat or hundreds of goats in your local park. You can walk right through that herd and they won’t bother you a bit. Keeping the Bear Creek Garden maintained each year requires an extra 500 helpers. That’s ancient history you know and in Europe, they used to use goats to manage weeds all the time. And while these employees are just getting a dollar and a half each a day that adds up after 10 days for the time they’re here it’s around between five of seven thousand. That’s pretty pricey when it’s all paid for by grants and accepting donations by the Bear Creek Gardens Association. So why goats? Why not just grab a lawnmower? It’s a natural way of doing it as opposed to mowing and using fossil fuels and machinery. You won’t see chemicals here either. We don’t want any kind of pesticides or anything sprayed up to the gardens keeping the gardens clean and food on the table or ground for the park’s newest employees in Colorado Springs Aly Myles Fox21 News.
